But whilst work on The Girl in the Mirror is coming to its natural end (it's not over yet, though... I will give a brief outline of what's happening over the next 18 days building up to the book's release a bit further down), I have been working hard on The Sons of Gyges, book two in The Girl in the Mirror trilogy, which is currently in the final editorial stages. The aim is to fast-track the book to publication for an early 2016 release, maybe Easter, which is slightly ahead of my projected April target date. In addition to this, between juggling The Girl in the Mirror and The Sons of Gyges, I am beavering away at writing the third (and final book) in the series - as of yesterday I am roughly a third-way through writing it. If the first draught is complete by the end of the year (which I hope), we should be on track for an autumn publication next year - roughly around the anniversary of the first novel. It's going to be a busy 12 months!
Okay, let's move on. You maybe wondering what's transpired since my last article regarding the book? Well, Streetlight Graphics who have been working with me in producing the book for publication has converted my manuscript into 'printable' and 'eBook' formats and presented them to me for approval. After review and countless amendments (owing in the most-part to me and my editorial team - but mostly me) the files have been accepted and we are now moving forward towards getting the book over to the printers and eBook distributors, all in good time for the date of 27th October - when you can actually lay your hands on a copy (or download it to your Kindle).
In regards to the eBook, I've mentioned within a previous article that it would be made exclusively available on Amazon for 90 days; after this it will be distributed on all other eBook platforms (you name it, it'll be there!). You may ask why I've done this, but it's all down to what's best for the book and its promotion. Currently, Amazon's profile fits best with what my immediate aims are, and with 70% of the UK market share, I had to take this into consideration. Today, files were presented to Amazon for review and listing. It's now with them, so early next week you should be able to pre-order the eBook for delivery at 00:00 on 27th October. Further details will be available within the News section of this website as and when I know.
So, it leaves me, as promised, to give you a sketch of what's going on over the final two-and-a-half weeks before that long-awaited day.
Well, crucially, I'll be working with Glendon on preparing the back cover of the paperback copy of the book. The blurb (that is the brief outline of the story on the back designed to hook you in and buy it!) is all written, and the ISBN ref has been assigned. Also, prices for the eBook and the paperback have been decided upon based on a number of factors (incidentally, the dimensions of the paperback is 203mm x 133mm, making it larger than the standard trade paperback - I like to go bigger and better!). Once the full cover of the paperback has been finalised, files will be sent over to the printers ready to produce the books, hopefully with a week to ten days to spare. This will allow for pre-orders, which is vital in getting the book up the book charts to gain exposure without costing a penny. When we are down to the final ten days, I will be dedicating time to marketing and promotion... this you should hear more about as and when it happens (especially if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter), and there will be some media focus. When we get to the last few days (Yay!), then there will be a frenzy of activity... which I won't go in to right now. Instead, I'm going to leave you on a high with an exclusive sneak peak of the cover blurb. I hope you like it!
Created as a prototype for a soldier of the future, sixteen-year-old Sophie Jennings possesses abilities like no other. With exceptional strength, intelligence, endurance, longevity and the ability to become invisible, she is a force to be reckoned with, but many will try.
Her father, a bio-geneticist with a murky past, has ties to a corporation whose motives are questionable. His unease with their intentions, prompts him to run, taking Sophie with him.
Their journey unleashes a malicious chain of events that will pin Sophie up against a sadistic and equally powerful opponent and force her into a position to utilise every skill necessary to outwit and outrun her pursuers.
Fight or flight? Hide or seek?
For Sophie, the decision is simple.
Unbeknownst to her, taking out two armed men will only be the beginning of what she’ll face during the next forty-eight hours.
Will Sophie, inexperienced and untested, prove to be their worst enemy?
The Girl in the Mirror is a gripping action adventure that twists and turns, and twists some more.
Like Sophie Jennings, you won't see the end coming...
