Last week, I contacted the graphics company who will be designing the book's cover and formatting the typescript for publication, and after a lengthy consultation, the project is now with them. They commenced work this week and I am pleased to say that I have seen an early draft of their proposed cover (and it looks mind-blowing!); come back soon for the exclusive big reveal! I have a couple of weeks to finalise the manuscript, add a verso title page (the bit with all the publisher and copyright blurb) and write some jazzy text for the back cover (hopefully to hook a few people in to buying it!). When this is all done, and the graphics team have completed their part I will have a set of proofs, which I will then need to 'proof read', but in this digital age, it should be straightforward (unlike the days of typesetting, where text is manually copied into a printing machine, usually giving rise to plenty of human errors, and lots of extra work rectifying).
The book will be published by the independent publisher, Wildboar Publishing, and the ISBN reference: 978-0-9934167-0-5 has been assigned to The Girl in the Mirror. This is the number you'll need to quote when ordering the book from all good booksellers (which will be available to pre-order very soon!). The publication will also be offered in an eBook format, and will be exclusively available through Amazon for 90 days, something which I'm loathe to do, but they own 78% of the market share and, like Joey from Friends, they don't like to 'share'. After 90 days, it will be made available on all other eBook platforms (full details and publication dates will be announced here).
All that's left to do, is marketing... which is my biggest challenge, and for something for me to share details of with you some other time. For now, let's get over the first hurdle, and that's getting to the finishing line and seeing the book in print. I'm so very much looking forward to unveiling the cover art to you within the next couple of weeks!
Let the countdown to publication begin (see snazzy countdown timer below):
